Social good organizations looking to make a greater impact in 2021 are invited to apply for Capacity Canada’s Designing for Impact
Are you part of a network, an organization, or an initiative committed to building social good? Do you want to intensify your impact and address big challenges?
Consider applying to Designing for Impact.
Capacity Canada, with support from Suncor Energy Foundation, is looking for organizations from different regions across Canada who want to take an innovative approach to addressing a social good opportunity or challenge in order to strengthen their community.
Successful nonprofit applicants will work with the Capacity by Design team to apply human-centred design tools to explore their chosen community challenge and develop potential solutions.
Work with each organization will be done virtually through online workshops and non-synchronous activities that support the process over a roughly one-month period.
Who would benefit from Designing for Impact:

- Social good organizations (SGOs) looking to develop new solutions for specific community challenges
- SGOs who need to pivot their offerings to meet new or emerging community needs due to the pandemic
- Established networks, associations or sectoral collaboratives that are seeking ways to work better together for community benefit
Commitment required:
- Each participating SGO or collaborative will pull together a design team of 5-8 individuals who are able to commit to the entire design process over a month-long period (approximately 40 hours)
- Organization’s executive with decision-making authority will be a member of the design team
- Willingness to commit organizational resources to plan and implement the next steps towards the delivery of the impact idea/solution
Capacity by Design (CXD) is a program of Capacity Canada that helps social good organizations rethink how they approach problem solving.
Since program launch in 2017, CXD with the support of the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation has worked with a number of organizations to launch online platforms, develop new programs, and strategically position their offerings based on the needs and insights of their stakeholders.
