Kerry’s Place Autism Services is Canada’s largest service provider to autistic children, adolescents and adults and their families. We are creating a future where all autistic people can participate fully in their communities. Every year, Kerry’s Place serves over 8,000 autistic individuals and their families through a variety of programs. We are one of the largest providers of supported living and semi-independent living supports or autistic adults at over 90 locations across the province. We also provide a full suite of programs for children and youth under the Ontario Autism Program, adult skill building and peer support groups, employment programs and respite options.

Board of Directors Profile
The composition of the Kerry’s Place Board of Directors is built on a Skills & Diversity Matrix, and the recruitment process seeks to fill specific skill, background and diversity gaps. To ensure a balance of these, we are currently looking for a new Board member who, through a family member or acquaintance, has experience or knowledge of autism and who possesses senior level management experience and professional skills in at least one of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Marketing
- Government relations
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
- Affordable housing ideally in the developmental disabilities sector
Experience in the social services or health-care sectors will be considered a strong asset, as will previous board experience.

Board members are responsible for ensuring the appropriate governance of Kerry’s Place, including oversight and performance of the President & Chief Executive Officer, the development and approval of the strategic and operating plans, ongoing stewardship against those plans and the establishment and review of policies. The Board, working with the CEO and executive management, plays a key role in helping autistic persons live the most fulfilling lives possible.
In addition to joining the Board, each new Director will become a member of one of the Board’s three Committees: Nominations & Governance, Quality Outcomes, and Business & Audit.
Board Membership Details
Board membership is for a 3-year term, renewable up to an additional two 3-year terms. The Board meets quarterly (virtually/in-person), as well as holds two off-site strategic meetings. There are also several one-hour virtual meetings per year. The Committees generally meet 4-6 times a year, virtually or in-person. Board membership is a volunteer position.
