Creative Day for Social Good generates pro bono work worth more than $100,000

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waterloo Region – October 25, 2021 – Capacity Canada’s annual event Creative Day for Social Good (CD4SG) concluded successfully on October 22. As a result of the event, pro bono work worth more than $100,000 was generated.

This year, in partnership with Intertek Catalyst, Conestoga College, Him & Her, and Manulife, Capacity Canada selected ten charitable non-profit organizations from across Canada as participants for CD4SG.

“We received more than 70 applications from non-profits across Canada this year. It was not an easy task to select participants,” says Matt Miller, Executive-In-Residence, Capacity Canada.

As part of the event, over 100 graphic design and public relations students from Conestoga College partnered with art directors, account managers and other industry professionals who volunteered their time. The event’s primary objective was to create free-of-cost marketing tools for charitable non-profit organizations across Canada that would otherwise not be able to budget for these services. “CD4SG is a win-win situation for both students and the selected non-profits. While students gain professional experience, charitable non-profit organizations receive marketing and communication tools free of cost,” added Matt.

This is the second year that Creative Day for Social Good was hosted virtually. But that did not hinder the success of the event. “I was nervous going virtual with this big event, but I was surprised by its success. The students’ passion and dedication made CD4SG a successful event,” says Terry McGuire, Vice-President, Intertek Catalyst. He further added, “While non-profits benefit from Creative Day for Social Good in terms of receiving quality marketing tools, the event also benefits students. CD4SG helps students create a good portfolio and prepares them for the job market.”

Over the years, Creative Day for Social Good has provided cash-strapped non-profit organizations with valuable design and marketing expertise for no cost. It has made it possible for charitable non-profits to access professional resources to build their brand and have a more significant social impact. “This year, an impressive diversity of charities across Canada received tools to tell their stories with more success and greater social impact that will continue to grow over the years,” says Cathy Brothers, CEO, Capacity Canada.

Some of the marketing tools created this year include new logos, website designs, templates for social media posts, and brochures. Paige Monck-Whipp, Network Catalyst, Wellbeing Waterloo Region (WWR), is excited to use the new logo and website design created for her organization as part of CD4SG. “The materials created are incredible. We love the new logo and the new colour theme! The team of students and mentors has done a phenomenal job. They went above and beyond our expectations. Wellbeing Waterloo Region is extremely grateful to Capacity Canada and is honoured to be part of Creative Day for Social Good,” says Paige.
