BOARD MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The Children’s International Learning Centre (CILC) is looking to add inspirational and collaborative individuals to our Board of Directors. Not-for-profit experience or transferable skills in legal, financial, P.R. and fundraising would be an asset.

About the CILC:

Established in 1970, the Children’s International Learning Centre is an incorporated, charitable not-for-profit and volunteer- driven organization. The CILC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and led by rotating Chairs. It is supported by volunteers, members, donors, grants and admissions. Mission: Promote respect for diversity and awareness of our world community through guided discovery and interactive artistic programmes.

Expectations of CILC Board Members

  • Attend Board information retreat (approximately three hours in length, meet and greet, team building activities, goal setting)
  • Be prepared (read committee reports and emails) for, attend and participate in monthly Board meetings (two hours in length)
  • Serve a three year term, renewable once
  • Be a member of the CILC in good standing with paid membership
  • Attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting(AGM)
  • Chair or be a member of a Committee
  • Engage in respectful and motivational communication when communicating with all CILC volunteers, staff, donors, supporters and the public
  • Work as a team member and actively support Board decisions; for example- fundraising
  • Promote and adhere to the principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

Roles and Responsibilities of CILC Board Members

  • As a member of the governing board, provide leadership and be accountable to other members of the Board, the organization, funders and the community
  • Assist in the organization’s strategic plan and participate in ongoing monitoring of measurable outcomes
  • Approve budgets and monitor financial performance
  • Act in accordance to the by-laws, code of conduct, policies and procedures of the organization
  • Take minutes at one meeting per year
