We are seeking knowledgeable, dynamic and passionate community members to join our Board of Directors.

Organizational Overview

The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre is Canada’s only stand-alone community centre and charitable organization, specializing in healthcare and mental health support for patients of all ages living with type 1 diabetes. Lead by the Executive Director, our interdisciplinary team of nurses, dietitians, social workers work with affiliated physicians to provide individualized patient care. All supported by dedicated development/fundraising and administrative staff.

Volunteer Board Director Responsibilities

• Attend Board meetings, either in-person or virtually
• Provide governance support to the Centre’s strategic plan, connect with the vision and mission
• Contribute to financial oversight and ensure fiscal responsibility
• Support fundraising and advocacy efforts
• Promote and build relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, staff and the broader community
• Offer expertise, insights and guidance to support consistent growth and development
• Contribute to at least one of the Board’s standing sub-committees

Qualifications

• Leadership experience
• Strategic thinking, financial acumen and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to the Best Centre’s values, vision and mission
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Not required but advantageous to have a connection to someone with type 1 diabetes
• We are currently looking for individuals with experience in legal, information technology and financial sectors but feel free to apply if you think this is the place for you
