Kitchener, ON, November 29, 2024 – Capacity Canada concluded its 16th annual Board Governance BootCamp on November 28. The theme of the three-day BootCamp was ‘Building Community Trust: The Role of Nonprofits in Fostering Hope and Resilience.’
Hosted at the Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener from November 26 to 28, the Governance BootCamp was attended by more than 200 participants, including non-profit leaders, board members, and governance professionals from across the country and North America.
“Board governance is essential for building strong, sustainable organizations. Our BootCamp provides an invaluable opportunity for board members and organizational leaders to deepen their understanding of effective board governance,” stated Cathy Brothers, CEO of Capacity Canada. “Since 2009, over 1500 non-profit leaders across North America have attended the BootCamp in Waterloo Region.”
This year’s BootCamp featured a spectacular lineup of over 20 speakers from diverse backgrounds. These speakers covered topics ranging from holding our institutions accountable in a climate of mistrust to building trust within an organization, diversity, equity and inclusion, understanding financial statements, and successful fundraising.
“The work of Capacity Canada is critical. It builds communities from the bottom up. It is what we need to do to move things forward,” stated Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist and Founder of Nanos Research and the keynote speaker. Nik brought his unparalleled expertise in leadership, data, and decision-making to the BootCamp.
