Waterloo Region – April 28, 2024 – Capacity Canada celebrated its 2023 accomplishments at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday, April 26, at Delta Hotels Waterloo. The event also marked the release of the highly-anticipated Annual Report for 2023.
The AGM commenced with Board Chair Joanna Lohrenz expressing gratitude to the Board of Directors and Capacity Canada staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. “Our Annual Report, which continues to improve year after year, is a testament to the commitment and effort of our Capacity Canada team. We have launched numerous successful programs, and I am confident that our impact and positive outcomes will continue to benefit communities nationwide,” stated Joanna.
In a notable highlight of the day, the team celebrated CEO Cathy Brothers, who was recently recognized as the 64th Kitchener Waterloo Citizen of the Year! Cathy expressed her gratitude, attributing Capacity Canada’s success to the support of its dedicated team and Board. “I am fortunate to lead such a wonderful and supportive team. Our accomplishments are a reflection of the collective effort and commitment of everyone involved,” she stated.
Following the AGM, the Capacity Canada members participated in a team-building day, fostering collaboration among team members. The event provided an opportunity for staff to acquire new knowledge and deepen their connections with one another.
Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux, Board Member and Chair of Truth and Reconciliation at Lakehead University, delivered a powerful personal account of her experiences and work in Canada and globally. Her presentation was followed by a discussion on Capacity Canada’s role in fostering Indigenous relationships and reconciliation.
While Executive-In-Residence Sue Radwan had some innovative and fun exercises in store for everyone. Executive-In-Residence Ian McDonald and Board Member Joe Sehl shared their perspectives on innovation and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in driving continued progress and impact.
