Learnings from BootCamp to support SPECTRUM’s transition to a Governance Board

As a relatively new Executive Director of an organization transitioning from a working board to a governance board, Scott Williams wanted to learn more about promising governance practices.

“We had two of our board members and two staff members from SPECTRUM attend the Board Governance BootCamp last year,” Scott said. “SPECTRUM is transitioning to a governance board, and the BootCamp helped us identify some of the practices we could incorporate in our organization.”

Registration for Modern Board Essentials course is open!

Serving on a board is both a privilege and a responsibility, but often it isn’t easy to understand where to start and how to become a good board member. Capacity Canada’s Modern Board program equips board directors with the credentials they need to demonstrate their abilities to stakeholders in a concrete way. A great starting place for anyone who has not previously been part of a board, the program is a unique and credible two-course online training module.

During the week of celebrating healthy, vibrant, and inclusive communities in Ontario, Capacity Canada asked community members to show support for the non-profit sector.

Capacity Canada gave 36 free accesses to either Section 1 – What Is a Board and How Does It Work; or Section 6 – How to Apply to Non-Profit Boards from our Essentials of Board Governance Modern Board Course.
