December 2, 3, and 4, 2021- Virtual
Capacity Canada is pleased to announce that its upcoming Board Governance BootCamp will be communications accessible for Deaf/deaf persons with an ASL interpreter and closed captioning for hard-of-hearing persons or persons with hearing loss.
This year’s theme of BootCamp is Transforming Governance: Preparing Your Board for Diversity. Board members and E.D.’s will not want to miss this extraordinary opportunity to change their organizations. BootCamp will be led by an incredible roster of Indigenous, Black, and Muslim experts.
For any non-profit, the Board of Directors plays a critical role in making a powerful and positive impact as it advances an organization’s mission. To fulfill this role, it is imperative that Directors are properly trained in the responsibilities and demands of a governance position. Yet, many Boards often struggle to adequately educate new and existing Directors. Without the right education, resources, and guidance for their Directors, Boards may fall short of reaching their organizational goals.
Sponsorship opportunities exist to ensure the success of this Governance BootCamp. To learn more about sponsorships, contact Cathy Brothers, CEO, Capacity Canada at [email protected]
By attending our 2021 Board Governance BootCamp:
• You will have a greater awareness of systemic racism in our communities
• You will have an opportunity to reflect on your own experiences
• You will develop a plan for the next steps in your response to the transformation
Governance BootCamp Price
The price to attend this year’s Governance BootCamp is $600 per person. If you have any questions please contact Andrew Wilding at [email protected]

Conestoga College students come together for Social Good
Real-life experience and a professional portfolio is every student’s dream. However, not many can boast of a good portfolio as soon as they graduate. Capacity Canada’s Creative Day for Social Good (CD4SG) ensures students who participate in the event are ready to take on the world with real-life experience, good connections, and a professional portfolio.
Over 100 students from Conestoga College pursuing Graphic Design and Public Relations participated in CD4SG to make it successful. They created free-of-cost marketing tools for ten participating charitable non-profits. These tools include website design, posters, brochures, and templates for social media posts.
More than $100,000 worth of pro bono work was created as part of CD4SG this year.
Designing for Impact- MAC to promote fostering in Muslim community
They applied to Capacity Canada’s design-thinking program, Capacity by Design, and got selected as one of the five participants. Last month, as part of the design sprint, the group from MAC created two prototypes – one focusing on creating a youth champions program and the other focused on creating an online interactive guide called “Hope Away from Home.”

Ten non-profits receive free-of-cost marketing tools
Every year, Capacity Canada selects 10-20 charitable non-profit organizations from across the country to be part of Creative Day for Social Good (CD4SG). Around 100 students pursuing Public Relations and Graphic Design from different colleges team up with industry professionals to create free-of-cost marketing tools for the participating charitable non-profits.
This year, in partnership with Intertek Catalyst, Conestoga College, Him & Her, and Manulife, Capacity Canada selected ten charitable non-profit organizations from across Canada as participants for CD4SG. The 24-hour design event was hosted virtually on October 22.
The annual event is an excellent opportunity for charitable non-profits to access professional resources to build their brand and have a more significant social impact.
