Please join us in welcoming Colleen James as one of our newest Executives in Residence!
Many of you already know Colleen through her impactful work as a Regional Councillor for the Region of Waterloo, or from her years of service in municipal government. She’s also the founder of Divonify Incorporated, where she leads as a consultant specializing in equity and inclusion. Her work spans local, national, and international partnerships with public, private, and nonprofit organizations that are committed to meaningful change.
Colleen’s contributions have been recognized across Canada and beyond. In 2020, she was named one of the Top 100 Black Women to Watch by the Canada International Black Women Event. In 2021, she was honoured as one of the Top 25 DEI Leaders of the Year by the Canadian Multicultural Group. And most recently, in 2024, she received the Public Service Excellence Award from Women of Dignity International.
Her passion for serving the Waterloo Region and advancing DEI in organizations and businesses remains at the heart of everything she does. Her new role at Capacity Canada is a natural extension of that mission.
