Capacity Canada’s family is growing! We are excited to welcome two new Executives-In-Residence to our team – Dave Barrett and Liz Forsberg!
Dave Barrett brings decades of experience in project management across both industry and education.
He spent more than 20 years at Conestoga College, where he developed and led the Project Management postgraduate program, helping prepare the next generation of professionals. Prior to that, Dave worked in the financial services sector, leading large-scale IT integration projects after starting his career as a software developer.
Dave will provide project management expertise to help Nonprofit organizations strengthen their planning and delivery.
Dave was introduced to Capacity Canada through his wife, Paula Barrett, who led the Public Relations degree program at Conestoga College and has collaborated with Capacity Canada for many years on Creative Day for Social Good.
“I’ve always admired the work Capacity Canada does in the community. I had been looking to give back to the community, and what could be a better way than this?” said Dave. “Now that I’ve retired from Conestoga College, it felt like the right time to get involved.”
Known for his practical, people-focused approach, Dave emphasizes not just delivering projects effectively, but doing so in a way that creates meaningful impact for organizations and the communities they serve.
Dave brings both deep expertise and a strong commitment to community to his role at Capacity Canada.
Capacity Canada is also pleased to welcome Liz Forsberg as an Executive-in-Residence.
Liz brings more than 20 years of experience in the Nonprofit and philanthropic sector, with a focus on arts, culture, governance, and capacity building. She has worked as an executive director, leader, and strategic advisor, supporting organizations across Ontario in strengthening their leadership, strategy, and impact.
Liz was introduced to Capacity Canada by another Executive in Residence – Blair Dimock, reflecting the organization’s strong network of practitioners. Most recently, she led partnerships at the Ontario Trillium Foundation as arts and culture strategy lead, and previously served as Executive Director of Art Starts, where she strengthened governance and supported organizational growth.
“I’ve spent the last 10 years focused on capacity building, and that’s exactly what Capacity Canada does,” said Liz Forsberg. “There isn’t enough support for Nonprofits when it comes to building capacity and investing in leadership. I’m passionate about this work. Nonprofits are tackling some of the most pressing issues in our communities, and I love being able to support them and share what I’ve learned.”
Liz brings a practical, hands-on approach to her role, grounded in a deep commitment to strengthening nonprofit organizations.
