Developing a Collective Impact Strategy for Youth-related Issues in Wood Buffalo Workshop Series

Organizations involved in serving youth in Wood Buffalo participated in a social change process to develop a collective impact[1] strategy to address youth-related issues in Wood Buffalo. This collective impact strategy built on the work of Y-Connect, Social Prosperity Wood Buffalo, ConvergenceYMM, Nexus North, the Regional Municipal of Wood Buffalo, as well as the research of John Kania, Mark Kramer, and Frances Westley.

Using social innovation tools and strategies, this five-part series explored the five conditions of collective impact, including the development of a common agenda, shared measurement, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and backbone support to address youth-related issues in Wood Buffalo.

Reports from the five workshops:

[1] Collective impact is the commitment of a group of important actors from different sectors to a common agenda for solving a specific social problem. Collective Impact, John Kania and Mark Kramer, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Winter 2011
