Lionel Laroche’s message to a group of board directors (and potential candidates) was clear when he spoke at a Capacity Canada event in October. Successful non-profits in the charitable sector run towards change, not away from it, and they adapt.
In this case, he was talking about diversity; about how our understanding of things widens when we move from the shelter of our respective cultural norms to that vastly creative common ground in the middle. It takes a willingness to venture into the unknown and take chances.
Your support for Capacity Canada drives that process forward. Our boot camps on board governance and evaluation, the mentoring we provide to early-stage non-profits, the advice we give every day to leaders overwhelmed by issues inside their organizations — and out — demonstrate our commitment to building a sector that is informed, resilient and innovative.
We work with change-makers in Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland-Labrador who also believe that well-run, adaptive organizations simply do a better job of managing resources and fulfilling community needs. We shift the conversation from things that can’t be done to things that can be done.
But this is a partnership, and we couldn’t do it without people like you. Your donation enables us to bring the best experts to our educational events. It supports our efforts to bring non-profits together to work on problems. It helps us share the knowledge we gain from collaborating with groups across the country.
Because you make things happen, we’ve made giving easy. Visit our donation page for an option that suits you.
Thanks for your time today. And thanks for making a difference.
